aCar – Keep your car running smoothly

by DroidGeek on November 30, 2009

Owning a vehicle can be a chore sometimes, keeping track of maintenance and all that other stuff is a pain so nobody does it. Here’s a easy way to keep stats on your vehicle, “aCar” keeps track of maintenance, fuel mileage, and other expenses to help keep your vehicle running at its peak.

You can use the app for something as simple as tracking your fuel mileage or use it to keep track of maintenance services and expenses.

Features:

  • Keep track of maintenance (engine oil, air filter, oil filter, or inspection, wheel alignment, etc)
  • Check fuel mileage
  • Supports multiple vehicles
  • Store your vehicles information (VIN, Insurance Policy, License Plate, Make, Model, etc.)
  • Supports several international units
  • Service reminders
  • Keep records at the pump

Thanks a lot for mentioning aCar on your website. I appreciate it! :-)

Any in-depth review is also welcome. I’m doing my best to improve it as much as I can, so any feedback (even negative) is extremely valuable for me.

If I had a droid I would be all over this.

So far, I’m liking this – but – I’d like to see a way to sync to a website. Right now, I update on my droid when I fill up, then manually enter that data into Fuelly later.

Same here, I like this but wish for a direct export to expense graph, perhaps print direct to wifi printer, Jim

Does this app support multiple cars? I drive several different cars and would like to track all of them. Syncing to a web site or better yet to my desktop would be great!

I love this app, but it seems the only way it knows how many miles you have gone is by manually entering it when you get gas. It would be awesome if you could find a way for it to just use the GPS and such to know how many miles you have gone, maybe you can just tell it when you are driving a certain car or something

@Joe: Syncing to a website is already in my list. It’s just a matter of time!

@Jim: Exporting the charts to desktop full-screen resolutions, suitable for printing, is already in my list :-)

@Calvin: Yes, aCar supports multiple vehicles. How to add more vehicles:
v1.x.x: Use arrow buttons on main screen to navigate to see “All Vehicles” on the bottom vehicle bar. Then tap on it to add more vehicles.
v2.0.x: Use the big ADD VEHICLE icon right on the main screen console :-)

@Cory: Using GPS is already in my list to guess the name of fuel stations and repair centers. But I’m not sure I will use GPS to calculate the driven miles…

How about syncing between to devices for the same cars. I may drive one of our cars one week and my wife the next week and we each filled up. It would be nice for us to both add a fill up for that car and it syncs both fill ups for the car on each device. Just a thought….
