android_market250x250

Hey guys and gals, thanks for visiting DroidApps.org. The Motorola Droid, HTC EVO 4G and HTC Droid Incredible and the Droid X are pretty awesome phones but what makes them great are the applications you use.

We want you to list your favorite apps in the comment section so Android users have a nice resource of apps to choose from and even try new apps they never even heard of. Let’s share!

Hey i was also a windows mobile user always had HTC phone and just swished to the Droid Z. Synchronizing your contacts will be a pain in the ass. I would suggest you do not sync with google as i have tried it and it then stops synchronizing any of your new contacts with out look and even after manually exporting your outlook contacts and importing them into gmail it will still sync your old contacts with outlook and the new ones with gmail “sort of” i found the gmail contact synchronization to be really bad. And you can not go back from it and just sync with outlook anymore so i would strongly suggest you do no synchronize your contacts with gmail and just keep using outlook.

I was over all happy with my new phone cos it has tons of cool new tricks and gadgets as well as incredible visuals. But when you get down to the basics the phone is not as solid as my old HTC touch pro with windows 6. The droid’s text messaging software is horrible, takes up to a minute to send a text sometime and locks your creen while doing it. So i got Handsent and that makes it slightly better but still not as good as the windows text inbox.

If anyone actually managed to get gmail to sync their contacts properly please let me know how, i sept a week trying all kinds of stuff but never got it to work well.

Syncing your outlook on your droid is exactly as easy as your win mobile phone. Its free and works seamlessly with your stock android email app and calender app that come pre loaded on your phone.

You add a new email account, select active sync and enter your email information and server info, check the boxes for contacts, mail and calender and hit go. I have 2 outlook accounts and 2 personal email accounts(including google) all synced flawlessly that sync at intervals of my choosing. There is no limit to what droid gets and no limit to what droid does.

Ron December 31, 2010 at 3:45 pm

Best Exchange client on Droid is Touchdown. It is not free, but well worth the money and it is an independent developer.

Yelp finds nearby places for you, everything, restaurants, bars, gas stations, banks, etc. It even has a ‘monocle’ that you can hold up to view a street and it will tell you what’s nearby. pretty cool.

Devearl April 15, 2011 at 12:03 pm

Barnabus May 7, 2011 at 5:26 am

Lyoko May 28, 2011 at 3:58 pm

Whats the name of the app where it auto tunes your voice?

tyler June 25, 2011 at 1:41 am

My must haves have to be chomp sms, which is a great text messaging app, tune wiki best mp3 player I’ve found it neatly organizes between song, artist, album, etc. Also displays lyrics and album cover.. only thing I haven’t found is a good mp3 downloader.

Battery Booster – necessary, but turn off “enable battery full beep” in the Performance tab so a Japanese woman doesn’t announce when your battery hits full charge.
AutomateIt – Want your screen to stay on 10 minutes when plugged in, but 1 minute otherwise? Get this
TuneIn Radio – If there’s a radio station you miss from anywhere you used to live, chances are you can listen to it with this.
Barcode Scanner
Swiss Army Knife – compass, rulers, bubble level, flashlight, stopwatch, timer
Where’s My Cellphone – Will turn on ringer when you call your phone from the web site (free), even if it was on silent.
Apps2SD – Filters out the Apps that are phone only so you can go through and move the relevant ones.
Paper Toss – Addictive game
MathDoku – Basically Ken-Ken
Back Talk – free version or paid. Alien can answer respond to many questions and statements that you speak into the phone.

aubrey August 23, 2011 at 10:32 am

@Sharon I use Life360 (dont like it very much) and Latitude (google maps) to keep track of kids with droids. I also use a text forward program that sends me a copy of all incoming and outgoing texts ($3).

Ryan O August 30, 2011 at 8:08 am

I think Voodoo Your Buddy is one of the funniest apps for android. You get to make anyone you know into your own voodoo doll and stick them with pins to hear them scream LOL. Great for ex girlfriends/boyfriends.

KRK September 2, 2011 at 1:46 pm

Sudoku free from Android market. Awesome game. Very addicting. I give it 5 stars.

Thom November 12, 2011 at 4:25 am

My favorite app right now is iWatchLife. It turns your webcam into a security camera that is viewable on your phone. Specific zones can be set and it will send you an email if there is an intrusion.

unknown November 14, 2011 at 9:16 pm

Iris is awesome look it up

Valter January 9, 2012 at 4:21 pm

My most recent favorite app would be called “Kick to Name” on android. I’m pregnant and it lets my baby kick the screen to pick a name. It’s kinda corny but really fun.

S Khan February 12, 2012 at 1:44 am

Found this app via YouTube. Good for office lunch suggestions, bet publishers can improve it ?!?

Dolphin HD – Awesome browser replacement

Swiftkey – MUCH better keyboard

PlayerPro – The best music player available.

Music for VKontakte – Basically Grooveshark without the subscription. Requires free signup at vk.com

Pandora

Jango – Nice alternative to Pandora

Trillian – all-in-one instant messaging (AIM/FB/Yahoo/Gtalk)

GrooveIP – Use your google voice number to make calls – perfect for anyone on a 4g data plan with limited talk minutes or somebody that wants to make free calls over wifi.

Wheresmydroid – Ring your missing phone with a text message or from a web browser (even if it’s on silent) If phone’s lost/stolen you can get it’s exact location and Google maps link.
*Better paid alternative – Locate My Droid
