Google Maps + Android + Biking Directions = Awesome

by DroidGeek on May 12, 2010

The newest version of Google Maps (version 4.2) will help you get around town in a more eco-friendly way. Now you’ll be able to get biking directions, trails, lanes from your Android phone.

What’s new in Google Maps 4.2:

Biking – When searching for directions, tap the new bicycle icon for the optimal bicycling route.

Navigation shortcut – Great tool for when you’re driving and need directions quickly. Add it to your home screen.

Sharing – Tell family and friends exactly where you are via Email, text message, Google Buzz, Facebook, or Twitter.

Update Google Maps or get it for free from the Android Market.

This pulls up an error for me when I scan the barcode – says that there are no matches. I’ve tried searching the Market for Google Maps and had no luck that way either – am I doing something wrong?

Sarah, go to the Market and search for “google maps”. It should be the first option.
