Want to know your heart rate? Measure your heart rate using your Android phone with Instant Heart Rate. The app uses the built in camera on the phone to measure your current heart rate.
Gently place your left index finger over the camera, hold it for about 10 seconds and the app should display your current heart rate on the screen.

Son of a gun it works….just used this together with Crucial Medical Systems pulse oximeter. Darn things were within a point of each other in real time. The android and its developers ROCK!
Every parent should have this app. My son seemed sick, his heartbeat felt fast and his temp high, but it was difficult to get a good count or temp reading. I found this app. It was a very easy and affective way to pick up his heart rate. I still need a temp app…
you might consider using the LED flash to light up the inside of the finger.. might work… i know my mytouch 4g came with a flashlight app that turns on the LED in 3 user settable brightness
levels, it stays on until user toggled off and you could probably program such a setting in the program
