Layar – Augmented reality for Androids

by DroidGeek on December 7, 2009

Layar is a augmented reality Android app that shows you digital information on top of reality through the Droid phone. Augmented reality is a combination of digital computer data combined with real life blended together into a single footage.

So what does that mean? What the hell does it do exactly? Basically what you do is hold your Android phone in front of you like you would with a camera, the app displays a digital layer on top of your display view. Layers are switchable and there are thousands of them. Find layers ranked by popularity or by staff favorites.

Try Layer out for free from the Android Market.

Possibly has potential, but for now appears to be practically useless.
