Meebo – Instant Messaging for Android

Why waste money on SMS when there’s an app like Meebo for your Droid phone. Meebo helps you stay connected with all your friends no matter which instant messaging client they use. Meebo is compatible with just about every IM client out there such as Yahoo, MSN, Google, AIM, MySpace IM, Jabber, and ICQ. The app can run in the background so you’ll always get your messages.

Meebo can be downloaded for free from the Android Market.

Watch the demo video and see what the Meebo app can do on the Android.

Yes! It seems to be the best free one around.

It would be nice if it was easier to clean up the notifications, though.

Pretty nice when it works. It keeps shutting down all my connections when idle for just a few minutes. This would be on a Droid running Android 2.0

This worked GREAT for about the first week. I had 3 simultaneous chats going on with people on different providers with no problems.

Now it won’t stay connected for longer than a couple of minutes.

Uninstalled.

Seems to work fine for everything I need by GoogleTalk. For some reason it insists on adding “/Meebo” to the end of my e-mail address that I use for signing in to GoogleTalk. Since adding that makes for a nonsense e-mail address, it then fails to log-in. Why in the world would it append to your e-mail address before trying to use it? That guarantees failure…

Just wanted to update my previous post. I had heard that the connectivity issues were resolved and decided to give it a try as it was an awesome app when it worked.

Meebo is now VERY reliable – a couple of issues connecting to GTalk occasionally but a quick restart tends to fix that with no problems.

I have this running constantly now.

THANKS! :)

The reason I wanted this app was so I could have my facebook IM on my phone. This is a great app when it works, but I have have issue with it staying up. It seems to shutdown when I get a phone call. I may start looking for a different alternative if it won’t stay up.
