Motorola Droid Android 2.1 update starting now, this time for real

by DroidGeek on March 30, 2010

Looks like Verizon is finally rolling out the elusive Android 2.1 update for the Motorola Droid. This is the same update that was suppose to be out earlier this month. Starting today at noon, 1000 lucky Droid owners will receive the update notice, than later throughout the day 9000 more update notifications will be sent. If those updates go smoothly the rest of the Droid army should get update alerts by Thursday. Lets not look too much into this because we all know what happened last time.

Does anybody know if 2.1 will allow my Droid to use EVRC-B? I have always had complaints from people I call about poor call quality. I tried enabling EVRC-B and couldn’t call out. I was able to receive calls and was told the sound quality was significantly improved. Supposedly Verizon has admitted there is an issue but I haven’t heard of a resolution. Verizon, I WANT EVRC-B!!!

Did they include a feature to save pics received via text message to the phone’s memory?? I feel this is one big issue that hasn’t been addressed yet.

Isn’t the Moto. Droid only on Verizon? ‘Cause that’s what this article is about.

What I keep wondering is: Where is the update that will finally bring us Flash capabilities on the Droid, which was supposedly to come out “first of 2010″, then “first quarter, 2010″. Now we’re into the Second Quarter. Anyone hear anything? There is serious lack compared to other devices (i.e. IPhone) when it comes to usability/visability of websites – without Flash capability.

My update came today. The live wallpapers are cool. Is there any help screens or sites to let us know exactly what was updated and any how to’s?

Just got the update on my Droid this morning. Pinch to zoom works well.

Margie April 6, 2010 at 9:38 am

The one important update that was not addressed was pinch zoom or plain zoom for your e-mails. I have called Tech support numerous times and they stated that it would be addressed in an update, they just did not say which update. I hope this is resolved soon, it is extremely annoying when I can not enlarge the e-mails font.

Alec- if u want to save a pic via txt, simply touch and hold the pic for a couple secs and it should have a pop up menu with an option to copy to sd card.

its for real guys. i just got my update a couple days ago. i even called verizon wireless last week to ask about it. it’s real. it might take some time to get to you though they’re dishing the update out to a certain number of users per day. don’t worry, i don’t see it taking longer than a week

I have update, all works well… Still pissed about flash taking so damn long though.
