by DroidGeek on May 29, 2010

Sirius XM has just released their official Android app to the world. Try it out and get access to 120 satellite radio channels free for 7-days. If you’re already a monthly subscriber you’ll need the “internet radio add-on” for $2.99 extra.

Wanna check out the complete list of radio channels click here.

You won’t find this app in the Android Market, you’ll need to get it directly from Sirius XM. Click on this link from your Android phone to download the app or enter your email for the download link here.

Was just about to get this but saw that Howard 100 and 101 are not on the list. Think I’ll wait until those are available before plunking down the $2.99.

I love this app! I’ve been waiting for it’s release. Greg, I think you can upgrade to a better package if that’s what you listen to, but I’m not sure.

Compared to the iTouch/iPhone app, I like the way this one works. There seams to be more settings options on the droid.
Plus the droid is a lot louder than the iTouch

Well…so far, I haven’t had a need to pay for Pandora, and I’ve been pretty happy with it. I’ll probably take the free trial for this and see if I think it’s that much better that it would be worth paying for.

before you folks download it, make sure and go to your settings and click on “allow” on outside installs. apparently its a fail-safe feature and warns that droid is not responsible for malicious outside installs. i loaded it and its just fine and like others say, its better than the ipod version in terms of layout and sound and selections. and the only bummer is that is doesnt carry howard 100. and oh yeah, there seems to be one glitch in that it gets stuck streaming at the 5min mark and i havent figured out why? you have to constantly restart it and it really eats up your battery time. I like to listen to the comedy channels!

Is this a one time fee?

Rob June 6, 2010 at 6:58 pm

Monthly fee.
No Howard Stern? YAY!
Not paying anything to listen to that POS.
Nice app, will keep.

Just downloaded and then realized Howard’s Channels were not on here… WTF!! No Howard and no Bubba? We all know what Sirius is still in business and its because of him so lets hear him.

I disagree with your opinion saying that the reason Sirius/XM is still around is because of Howard Stern. While I do believe Howard Stern has some interesting moments, Sirius/XM has a much more important feature to it: no censorship. Sirius/XM’s allowance of uncensored content is a great selling point for its services, unfortunately many people do not realize that Sirius/XM is uncensored. When purchasing this app and the subscription that comes with it, make sure you keep in mind that this is unadulterated radio!

You are absolutely ignorant if you dont credit howard stern with the existence of sirius/xm.. He is the most innovative and creative entertainer of many generations and is solely responsible for over 70% of subscribers.. IDIOT

You have got to be kidding me! You are talking about the most successful radio show of all time! Howard has changed the face of radio and anyone who doesnt recognize that must be living on another planet! I will not buy this app untill his channels are added. Baba booey! Baba booey!

I am already a subscriber, and while I am a Stern fan, vie got to say that he isn’t the reason I’m subscribing. If he decides to retire at the end of his current contract I’ll happily keep subscribing and never miss a beat. I love the MLB and NFL channels, Mad Dog Radio, Sports Nation not to mention all the live sports and the political talk stations. Plus the music stations like Lithium, Alt Nation, Octane, Chill and Margaritaville. There is a LOT more to Sirius-XM than Howard.

I have been a Sirius listener for several years and have never listened to Howard Stern. SoI guess there are those of us who like Sirius for the music and sports and not the uncensored stuff.
