This does not help me as I use skype when out of the US and don’t want to pay a fortune to call home.

Useless – does not work with WiFi – only Verizon’s 3G – now why would I want to use skype if I hand a good cell signal. Call Europe – Ok, but what if I am in Europe and want to call home to the US – would not Skype on my WiFi phone be good?

Stop locking these systems down!

Absolutely lame!

I just got the Droid on the 31st and installed the skype app – it works great – call quality is clear – the only issue is you can’t use the other apps while on skpye calls – so much for multitasking! But I love it!

That’s pretty dumb – only on 3G? Sounds like a scam to me. What would you recommend as a texting app for use on wifi that will be able to chat with an iPhone? I’ll be in Iraq soon and definitely wont have 3G.
