Have you ever wanted to be a member of the Ghostbusters team? Now you can with SpecTrek.
SpecTrek is an augmented reality ghost hunting game that uses the phone’s GPS navigation. The gameplay (or exercise) works like this, start a game and hold the phone flat to view a map and the ghost location, your job is to navigate by walking or running through the map and track it down.
When you get to within distance of the ghost hold up your Android phone to get into Camera mode to view, scan and capture the ghost. The Ghostbusters would be so proud.
What a brilliant game, no wonder it was a Android Developer Challenge 2 winner. Hey developer, do a version where you track down zombies and you need to shoot them in the head to stop them.

I have this app on my phone and it worked at first although the GPS locating took forever. However, it has not worked for the past week, and never gets past the GPS locating.
Response to Matt…. I had that problem initially too… wrote to the developer and he suggested popping the battery out to “reset” the GPS. That was all it took to get my GPS to load both for this game and for standard navigational GPS.
i had the gps problem (for samsung galaxy spica) and tried popping the battery as suggested by Kristine.still doesn’t work!
I love this game!! It is a lot of fun and gives me a great reason to take a walk.. But I’m so stingy I don’t want to buy the full version.. any way I can promote it and get it cheaper? I wish I could like it on facebook and such!
